Introducing Constitutional Kids to Parents

constitutional kidsLee-Anne Flack is the author of the revolutionary children’s book Constitutional Kids, which is endorsed by Barry Hilton, Derek Watts and Mpho Kgosana. In a story format, the book explains the rights and responsibilities we have in the Constitution of South Africa in a fun and easy to understand manner.

As a new resident of the Southern Peninsula, and in light of the recent disturbing events in Masiphumelele, Lee-Anne has launched a campaign to get a copy of Constitutional Kids to all of our local underprivileged children. If you would like to sponsor one or more books, please email: leeflack10877@gmail.com. R70 per book.

Let’s help empower and protect South African children together!

Halloween Safety Tips

indexThis Saturday is Halloween, so dress to scare and remember that children in Claremont often like to dress up for Halloween and go ‘trick or treating’. If you would like to participate and have them ring your doorbell, please decorate your gate with something “Halloween-ish” (e.g. an orange balloon, jack-o-lantern etc.) and have your bowl of treats ready.

Walk Safely

  • Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks.
  • Look left, right and left again when crossing and keep looking as you cross.
  • Put electronic devices down and keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.
  • Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
  • Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to
the left as possible.  Children should walk on direct routes with the fewest street crossings.
  • Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Teach children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.

Trick or Treat With an Adult

  • Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.

Keep Costumes Both Creative and Safe

  • Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
  • Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision.
  • Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
  • When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.

Drive Extra Safely on Halloween

  • Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
  • Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs.
  • Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
  • Eliminate any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings.
  • Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.
  • Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. so be especially alert for kids during those hours.

Welcome back Fiona Eadie

262427_10150283460522510_6075842_n[1]Fiona Eadie has a strong sales background not only in real estate but in the furniture industry where she worked closely with interior designers and architects so Fiona is used to fulfilling the demanding needs of customers.  Like many in real estate Fiona’s interest in real estate was sparked by first property purchase.

“I believe that a love of real estate is a happy marriage with a passion for décor and a design and it is rewarding not just to sell a property but to share the buyers interest as it is to understand a seller’s plans and motivations,” said Fiona who has also lived in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs for over 30 years.

In Fiona’s time as an agent she sold property in Constantia, Diep River, Kirstenhof and Lakeside.  Fiona is delighted to now rejoin the CHAS EVERITT team at the new Claremont office.  Fiona can be contacted on 086 207 9008 or on fiona@everitt.co.za

Client Comment:

I have known Fiona for many years and she always impressed me with her determination and strong will to succeed in whatever she has been involved in.  I asked Fiona to sell my home in Cape Town earlier this year and was not disappointed. She sold my house at full asking price and was professional in every way and made me feel completely comfortable and at easy during the selling process. A number of issues arose after I had left Cape Town and she did not hesitate to take care of them on my behalf.  Fiona would be a wonderful addition to any company or team. I wish her the best in her future endeavours.  Should you require any further information please feel free to contact me on the numbers below.

Experience Neighbourhoods

Claremont HeaderPrivate Property has brought a new dimension to online property searches. The addition of Neighbourhoods to the Private Property website is a worldwide first, bringing property and lifestyle together.

One of the neighbourhoods launched is Cape Town Southern Suburbs and features fantastic overhead drone footage and high-quality images that capture the culture and lifestyle of the area.

The Southern Suburbs make up some of the most popular residential areas in Cape Town. With large plots of land and roomy homes, the area attracts a fairly affluent crowd. The suburbs in the area include Rondebosch, Claremont, Plumstead, Ottery, Wynberg, Newlands, Constantia and Bishopscourt, Pinelands, Observatory, Tokai, Bergvliet, Kenilworth and Steenberg. The Southern Suburbs are conveniently situated close to shopping facilities like Kenilworth Centre, Cavendish Square and the Blue Route Mall.
